Evaluate

Evaluate

Although evaluation occurs constantly throughout your project, it is at this point that you formally document this process within your portfolio. You should include the following 4 headings in your evaluation (the four P’s);

Process:
Your process evaluation will allow you to acknowledge how effectively you used the design cycle (PRIME). This should be done in a discussion, though you may also ask the following questions;
1.    What would you have done differently?
2.    Did you allow enough time?
3.    Did I budget enough?
4.    Was your journal helpful?

Product:

MAKE

Begin implementing the solution you have chosen.
 Make
In addition to implementing your solution (creating your database), you should also be updating you portfolio, which may include the following;
·      Update your Project Plan, which may include a time line, action plan and/or Gantt chart.
·      Update your budget
·      Create a journal of your progress. This may include the following
ü  What I did today
ü  What went well
ü  What went wrong
ü  How did I fix it
ü  Reflect on time plan

Ideas

Ideas
In this stage you will identify your preferred solution, from one of the many you discovered for its use in the Making stage.

In this step you will undertake the following;

  • Identify and justify your choice of solution (e.g. Microsoft access)
  • List materials and/or software required (e.g. computer, windows xp, database software etc
  • draw sketches of your solution (story boards, database schema etc)
  • further investigate the solution you have chosen, particularly if you require further skill
  • develop a project plan, which may include a timeline, action plan and or Gantt chart
  • complete a budget
  • NOTE:
  • you a encouraged to use a range of mapping and/or brainstorming techniques within this stage

Research

Research
 couraged to use a broad range of resources during this stage

Find out all the different ways to solve the problem.

In this step you will undertake the following;
  • Find different ways to solve the database problem you are presented with (e.g. what soft ware to use................, what tools to use.............)
  • compare different software programs, both in terms of features, cost and access
Also explore how other people/designers have solved simmilar problem

  • NOTE: you are encouraged to use a broad range of resources during this stage. this may include the following;
  • the internet, text books,magazines and journals
  • Ask people & experts for advise
  • don't forget to commence your bibliography ( i.e. where I found my information)
  • don't forget to include print screens of different software packages you have tried, websites you have visited and other important information.
